First Friday and the Sacred Heart

The month of June is devoted to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Devotion to the Sacred Heart recalls the infinite love of our Savior who died on the cross for all, even to the point of having his heart pierced. It is also the reason why we hold First Friday adoration of the Eucharist. As Jesus promised St. Margaret Mary, those who are devoted to the Eucharist, especially on First Fridays, will receive the excessive mercy of His Heart and experience His all-powerful love.

Please make an extra effort to attend Mass and receive Holy Communion on the First Friday of each month (9:00 AM Mass at St. Mary, June 3 this month). Also join us after Mass for a Breakfast Potluck on First Fridays.

Also stop by the Church to spend some time in prayer before the Eucharist on First Friday, as we have 24-hours of adoration through the day and night. If you have never made a visit, please stop by to do so, even if for a short time. And if you have never made a Holy Hour, consider spending an hour with our Lord Jesus. Adorers are needed to sign up: 1 PM, 5 PM, 10 PM and 11 PM.

Special Collections

Catholic Social Services of Lincoln will be doing a Relief Trip to Joplin, Missouri in mid-June. Therefore we will be collecting non-perishable food, bottled water and cash donations for the relief effort. Bring donations during the week of Totus Tuus or the weekend of June 11-12.

June 25-26, parishes throughout the world will participate in the annual Peter's Pence Collection, uniting us in solidarity to the Holy See and its works of charity to those in need. Your generosity allows the Pope to respond to our suffering brothers and sisters with promptness, love, and compassion, so God’s people will not feel alone in their time of misfortune. "Let us make sure that none of God’s children ever feels alone." -Pope Benedict XVI

Charity and Stewardship Appeal

Many thanks to all who have been so generous in their gifts and pledges to this year's Charity and Stewardship Appeal (DDP). This year's theme Giving with the Heart of Jesus reminds us of the mercy God has shown us in his Son, and calls us to share the gifts the Lord has blessed us with. St. Mary parish has reached 107% of its goal - thank you, but we have the participation of only 24% of families and are still short of what was pledged last year. St. Joseph has 58% of its goal, also with only 24% of families - and any shortfall will have to come from parish funds. Everyone can still join in this annual Diocesan appeal which supports 16 different ministries and apostolates in the Lincoln diocese, as well as supporting our parishes. Thank you for your generosity.

Special thanks to our CSA chairs, Dan & Pegi Young and Kevin & Dian Hofferber for all their time and efforts.
