- Luke 1:39-58
- After the annunciation, Mary immediately sets out to visit her cousin
Elizabeth in the Hill County of Judea.
- Elizabeth greets her, calling her "blessed among women," and
Mary replies with the Magnificat. She stays three months, and then
returns home.

- Returning from the Passover feast in Jerusalem, Mary and Joseph discover
Jesus has stayed behind.
- After three days of searching they find Jesus among the teachers in the
temple, His Father’s house.

- The 1st Luminous Mystery:
- The Baptism of Our Lord
- Mt 3:13-17; Mk 1:9-11; Lk 3:21-22
- Jesus comes to John the Baptist, who is baptizing in the Jordan River.
- After Jesus was baptized, the Spirit of God descended like a dove and
the voice of the Father spoke: "This is my beloved Son, with whom I
am well pleased."

- When the wine ran short at the wedding feast, Jesus mother asks him
help.
- Jesus works his first miracle, changing water into wine - and opens the
hearts of the disciples to faith.

- The 1st Sorrowful Mystery:
- The Agony in the Garden
- Mt 26:36-46; Mk 14:32-42; Lk 22:39-46
- Jesus goes with the apostles to Gethsemane. He prays to the Father
but the apostles fall asleep.
- After several hours of agonizing prayers, Jesus is handed over to his
enemies.

- Pilate, to placate the crowd, hands Jesus over to be scourged.
- The soldiers take turns furiously beating Our Lord.

- After being scourged Jesus is clothed in purple, crowned with thorns,

- Ten days after his Ascension, the apostles are gathered together on the
day of Pentecost.
- The Holy Spirit comes upon them with a mighty wind and tongues of fire.

- Mary, the mother of Jesus was free “full of grace” from all sin.
- At the end of her life on earth, Mary was assumed, body and soul, into
heaven.

- Mary, the mother of Jesus, is also given by Jesus as the mother of all
disciples.
- Assumed into heaven, Mary is honored as Queen of Heaven and Earth.
- As the book of Revelation describes: “A woman clothed with the sun...
with a crown of twelve stars.”
