Welcome to St. Patrick's Parish
New parishioners are asked to call or stop by the rectory to register within the parish. (Please check that you live within the parish boundaries.) We are located 2 blocks south of Havelock Ave. in Northeast Lincoln.
Parish Boundaries

St. Patrick's Lincoln western boundary is 20th Street. Between 20th and 48th Streets, the parish includes everything north of Hartley Street (3400 block) and south of Bluff Road. East of 48th Street the southern boundary expands to include everything north of Adams Street (2900 block). East of 40th Street the northern boundary expands to Waverly Road. These boundaries extend east to 134th St (Waverly). South of McKelvie Road the eastern boundary is 162nd St, and south of Fletcher Ave the eastern boundary is 190th St, the Lancaster County line. Please notify the parish any time you move, including if you move out of the parish boundaries, so we can update our records.

Devotions
- Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament is on the First Friday of the month, beginning at 6:30 PM and going through the night until 8:00 AM Saturday morning.
- Rosary, Benediction and Litany to Mary are Saturday after the First Friday, night of exposition, at 7:30 AM.
- The Divine Mercy Chaplet is said on the First Sunday of the month at 3:00 PM.
- Adoration of the Eucharist takes place daily from 8:00 Am to 10:00 Pm during the seasons of Advent and Lent

Holy Days
- The six Holy Days of Obligation are Jan. 1, Mary Mother of God; Ascension Thursday; August 15, Assumption; November 1, All Saints; December 8, Immaculate Conception; December 25, Christmas.

Acts of Penance
- All Christians are called by divine law to do acts of penance. To fulfill this obligation the Church prescribes certain penitential days: to abstain from meat on all Fridays of Lent; to fast on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday. On every Friday of the year we are also asked to abstain from meat or do some other work of prayer, penance, or charity, such as a corporal or spiritual work of mercy.

Sacraments

Baptism
- Parents are obliged to see that infants are baptized within the first weeks after birth; as soon as possible after the birth or even before it parents are to contact a priest to receive the necessary baptismal instructions. For baptism of adults, see the information on RCIA or contact a priest.
- Baptisms are celebrated on Sundays at 12:30 PM.

Marriage
- Contact a priest to make arrangements to receive the necessary marriage instructions. At least 4 months or more in advance are required, but up to a year in advance is always welcome. Couples should be interviewed and begin marriage preparation before the date can be officially set.

First Communion & Confession
- These sacraments are celebrated for the first time in the 2nd grade for students enrolled in the Grade School or CCD program. Please contact a priest if they are needed for an older student or adult. First Communion takes place on the Sunday two weeks after Easter.

Confirmation
- The sacrament of Confirmation is necessary for the completion of baptismal grace. Confirmation is celebrated in the 5th grade for students enrolled in the Grade School or CCD program. Please contact a priest for an older student or adult to receive confirmation.

Anointing of the Sick
- This sacrament of healing is administered to anyone who seriously ill or elderly. It can be repeated for each additional serious sickness or crisis. Please call a priest whenever someone is seriously injured or hospitalized, and do not wait until the sick person is near death.

Vocations - Holy Orders and Religious Life
- St. Patrick's is proud to currently have numerous vocations to the priesthood and religious life. Currently from our parish, we have two men studying for the priesthood, and two women preparing to take religious vows. If you feel a calling to serve the Lord in the priesthood or religious life, please contact the pastor. If you know someone who may have such a calling, please encourage them to pursue such a vocation, and recommendations can be made to the pastor. Mass Stipends
- The tradition of the Church allows the priest to offer Masses for the specific intention of anyone living or deceased, and to receive a stipend for doing so. The usual offering is set by the Bishop at $10. Of course no intention will be refused for an offering of a lesser amount.

Stole Fees
- On the occasion of a baptism, marriage, funeral, anniversary, etc. an offering may be given which goes to support the Church, but no set amount is asked for. Laity who wish to make a specific offering to the priest must clearly designate their offering, otherwise these offerings are considered the property of the church.

The Most Holy Sacrifice of the Mass
The Eucharistic Sacrifice is the memorial of the death and resurrection of the Lord, in which the sacrifice of the cross is perpetuated over the centuries, and is the summit and source of all Christian worship and life. All are called to actively participate in this offering and sacrifice, and certain duties help us to have a reverent and holy Mass.

Organists
- Our organists are volunteering their time and talent to play for the Sunday Masses. If you can help us by accompanying the congregational singing, please contact a priest, even if you can only help out occasionally.

Choir
- A choir leads the singing for the 10:00 AM Sunday Mass at St. Patrick's. Practice is usually help on Saturday mornings at 10:00 AM. Please contact the Choir Director for more information.

Lectors / Acolytes
- Lectors and Acolytes are men chosen by the Pastor to attend a series of training classes and are installed by the Bishop to be ministers at the altar. If you are interested, please contact the pastor.

Altar Servers
- Altar Boys assist the priests and ministers at Mass. Servers are normally trained in the 4th grade by the assistant pastor. If you are interested or have questions, please contact the assistant pastor who is in charge of servers.

Ushers
- Ushers help with seating the congregation, taking up the collection, and other duties at Mass. If you are interested in helping, please call the secretary at the rectory.

Stewardship
The faithful have the obligation as a precept of the Church to assist with the material needs of the Church, each according to their own abilities of time, talent, and money. St. Patrick's has numerous needs and opportunities for involvement and volunteer service in the church and school.

Offering Envelopes
- Envelopes are mailed bimonthly; if you do not receive envelopes please contact the rectory. St. Patrick's is a tax-deductible organization, and those who use the contribution envelopes can receive an annual report for tax purposes.

Building Fund
- The parish also in the final stages Reaching New Heights, a building fund campaign to pay for our newly completed Gymnasium/Parish Hall. All who have made pledges are encouraged to complete their payments. Contributions can still be made to this fund by using the green envelopes received the offering envelopes.

Facility Rental
- St. Patrick's church basement, gymnasium, kitchens, tables and chairs are available for rental by parishioners and some community organizations. Call the coordinator for information, prices, and reservations.

Education

St. Patrick's Grade School
- St. Patrick's Elementary School is a pre-kindergarten through eighth grade Catholic School. The purpose of our school is to assist parents in their obligation to education their children spiritually, physically, emotionally and intellectually; preparing them to live Christian lives in this world in preparation for the world to come.
- St. Patrick's School is supported by our parish; therefore, while there is no tuition, parents have a duty to faithfully tithe to the Church through the weekly envelope contributions according to their ability and means. There is an annual book fee. Bus service and hot lunches are available.

CCD Program
- CCD stands for Confraternity of Christian Doctrine and refers to the Church's program to educate children of the parish who are unable to attend Catholic Schools. These classes for kindergarten through eighth grade teach the basics of the Catholic faith and life of Christ. These can never take the place of the teaching of the faith by the parents.
- CCD takes place on Wednesdays from 4:30-5:45 PM. Registration is at the end of August, with classes beginning in September and continuing until May. If you are interested in helping with the CCD program or have any questions, the director of CCD is the assistant pastor.

Godparents
- Is our high school youth program which combines an education in the faith with a chance for social activity. It involves students from both the public and private high schools of the same grade that meet together with their godparent couple once a week, usually on Wednesday nights at 7 PM. For questions and information please contact the Godparent coordinator.

Adult Education - RCIA Classes
- An adult class of instruction in the Catholic faith is held by the Pastor. This is available to all who want to learn more about the Catholic faith, both Catholics and non-Catholics. These classes are often called RCIA classes (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) for those who may be taking them with a possible interest in joining the Catholic Church. Classes are held on Monday evenings at 7:00 PM from September to Easter. Call the rectory for more information or to register. If someone wants to join the Church but cannot attend the classes, arrangements can be made for private instruction.

Pius X High School
- Pius X High School is the central Catholic high school for all the Lincoln parishes. The parishes support the school to help keep tuition low. The goal of Pius X High School is to help parents in forming mature Christian adults with both an excellent education and a Catholic one. Parish Organizations
Active participation in the life and mission of the Church is a fundamental duty and privilege of the baptized. Members of the laity are encouraged to express their Faith through memberships in these various associations which are established or approved by the church. St. Patrick's has numerous opportunities for involvement and volunteer service.

Altar Society
- The Altar Society is made up of all the ladies of the parish and usually meets on the First Tuesday of the month at 7:00 PM. The meetings provide an opportunity to involve and inform the ladies of the parish of current issues that concern their family, parish and community.
- The Altar Society pays the bills for the Church buildings altar supplies, cleaning, decorating, etc. Therefore each lady is asked to pay a yearly dues of $7. They also will be called on to help with cleaning the church, fundraisers, funerals, and other activities.

Men's Club
- The Men's Club is made up of all the members of the parish and usually meets on the Third Sunday at 7:00 PM. The club promotes fellowship among the men of the parish which results in a unified strength which promotes the spiritual, social, financial and material needs of the parish and community.
- The Men's Club needs the talents of men to help with maintenance and upkeep of the Church as well as fundraisers and other activities. There are no dues and all men are invited to share their time and talents for the good of the parish.

Catholic Workman
- Catholic Workman is a fraternal life insurance society which assists its member in meeting their religious, social and financial needs, while supporting Catholic schools, churches, other religious organizations and the community. It usually meets on the Second Sunday of the month at 9:00 AM, and also has a variety of spiritual and social activities include guest speakers, service projects, social activities, and fund-raisers. St. Patricks has a very active Branch #191. Contact the president for more information on membership, or see their Catholic Workman web site.

Youth Group
- The Catholic Workman sponsor a youth council for all teenagers who are interested in having leadership in organizing social activities, service projects, and other fun activities for the youth of St. Patricks. Going by the code name Catholics In Action (C.I.A.) they usually meet on the Second Sunday of the month at 12:30 PM, and the president can be contacted for more information.

Legion of Mary
- The Legion of Mary is a worldwide organization of Catholic men and women who assist their parish by performing spiritual and apostolic work. These works primarily consist in reaching out to members of the parish such as newcomers, shut-ins, and lapsed Catholics. Membership also includes daily recitations of the Legion prayers. Anyone interested in more information, or who just wish to pray for the Legion, should contact the pastor, who is their spiritual director.

St Vincent de Paul
- The St. Vincent de Paul society is a worldwide organization of Christians who meet in parish groups to help those in need in our own community, particularly the poor, homeless, and infirm. Their works primarily consist in visiting the poor and those in need who call for help, and then facilitating their needed assistance. Meetings are normally held on the Second and Fourth Wednesdays at 7:15 PM. There are no requirements but a desire to join in helping out of a love for God. If interested in being a member of this society which greatly helps our community, contact the St. Vincent de Paul president or the assistant pastor who is their spiritual director.
- Anyone who would like to help the society by making a donation can contact the president or HELP-YOU line. Frequently needed items include beds, dressers and tables, but most all household items can be used. Monetary donations can also be placed in the poor box located in the back of the church.
- Members of the parish who are in need can contact St. Vincent de Paul by calling their HELP-YOU line at 435-7968. A thrift store is also located at 1911 R St, 438-3135.

Parish Council
- The parish council is an elected, consultative body which assists the pastor in the administration of the parish, particularly by coordinating the parish committees and organizations. It seeks to encourage communication between the clergy and lay members of the parish, and therefore the president welcomes input and proposals from all members of the parish.

Home-School Association
- The Home-School association works to facilitate active communication between the school administration, staff and parents. This allows for better coordination to help effectively educate our students, and helps organize activities and fund-raisers. All parents are members and are encouraged to attend the monthly meetings.

Knights of Columbus
- The Knights of Columbus are an order of Catholic men dedicated to promoting Charity, Unity, Fraternity, and Patriotism. Their fraternity works to spread the faith both among its members and throughout the world, and also includes a strong insurance program, service to the Church and community, and numerous other works of philanthropy.
- St. Patrick's recently formed a new Knights of Columbus Council, Fr. Peter A. Welling Council #13576. Call the parish contact or see www.StPatKnights.org or www.KofC.org for more info.

Pro-Life
- St. Patrick's parish is committed to protecting the dignity of all human life from conception to natural death. Please join us in praying at the abortion clinic (35th and South St.) every 3rd Friday at 10:00 AM. Our parish provides transportation to the annual Lincoln March for Life and the annual Life Chain. SINE - Systematic and Integral New Evangelization
- SINE (pronounced see-nay) is a movement our parish offers to help people in their spiritual lives. After attending a weekend retreat which is held a few times a year, a person joins a "community", a small group for prayer and study of the faith. Retreat House
- Good Counsel Retreat House near Waverly holds a men's retreat and women's retreat for our parish once a year; however, you may attend any retreat throughout the year if their is room available. For information, contact the parish or the Retreat House at 786-2705.

Catholic Social Services
- Catholic Social Services (C.S.S.) of Lincoln offers pregnancy services, an adoption and foster care program, family and individual counseling, and post-abortion counseling through their main offices at 301 S 70th Street, 489-1834.
- C.S.S. also offers a food pantry, thrift store, emergency services, housing and refugee services at 123 N 25th Street, 474-1600.
- Volunteers are also needed with their many important works.

Kings Men - Ladies of the Eucharist
- The Holy Spirit Adoration Sisters (Pink Sisters) are a cloistered, contemplative order which prays in perpetual adoration before the Eucharist. They are located at Christ the King Chapel at 1040 South Cotner Boulevard, and all are invited to come adore our Lord between 7 AM and 8 PM. The Kings Men and Ladies are a spiritual group which supports the sisters by agreeing to visit the Pink Sister's chapel once a week. There are no other requirements, dues or meetings. Information is available at the pink sisters chapel, or talk with a priest.
